Peak District Park

1. Peak District Park.

The first National Park in Great Britain. It is situated in the highlands of central and northern England in the south of the Pennine Mountains and in the north of Derbyshire. It also includes Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. The Peak District National Park covers approximately 1,400 square kilometers and offers breathtaking views. The Pennine Way hiking trail, measuring 431 km, during which you will see almost everything that the park has to offer.

It can be divided into Dark Peak, dominated by vast, naturally dark moors, and the so-called White Peak, where there is a lot of white limestone soil. Tiny villages and beautiful landscapes are the true face of the Peak district.  Ro this day they are an inspiration for poets and artists. Many famous films have been shot here, such as: Jane Eyrne; Pride and Prejudice; Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and one of the parts of Harry Potter.

2. Hiking in the Peak District

Some of the most beautiful, medium difficulty trails are: Mam Tor where you can cover 9 miles in approximately 4 hours, or Saddleworth Moor approximately 8 miles in 4 hours.The Kinder Scout is a bit more difficult, where you will cover a distance of 17 miles in approximately 9 hours.

One of the easier ones is The Roaches, where you can walk 6 miles in three hours. Chrome Hill is comparable to this trail.Padley Gorge is very easy. In 2.5 miles you can walk for about two hours.

You can find many other unforgettable trails and attractions in the Peak District Park, such as Castleton, Peveril Castle and the Cave Valley. The most famous places are Speedwell Cavern, Peak Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern, famous for its beautiful stalagmite and stalactite formations.

British Museum

3. Museums in Great Britain

If the hours spent on the trail are not for you. If you like the city and history, then you can visit the British Museum. One of the largest museums in the world, presenting a collection related to antiquity. Giant neoclassical edifice, between Holborn and Tottenham Court Road tube stops.

You can see over eight million exhibits related to history and culture. Here you can see the Egyptian mummies and the controversial Elgin Marbles transported from Athens.  There are also the chronometers used by Darwin during his HMS Beagle expedition. Entrance is free!

London offers many other museums .  The Natural History Museum is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in London. It showcases hundreds of interactive, animated exhibits of dinosaurs and mammals.  Here you will also find the unforgettable 30-meter model of the blue whale and the skeleton of the giant diplodocus.

In the north of Trafalgar Square,is the third most visited fine arts museum in the world – the National Gallery. Its exhibits, based on private collections, includes 2,000 masterpieces.

In the Science Museum you can join the outstanding achievements of human thought. Children will like it here. All 15,000 exhibits can be touched with their hands.

4. A journey in the footsteps of Robin Hood.

London too busy for you and you are looking for something equally interesting but intimate? Here are some suggestions for you. You can find yourself in the city of Robin Hood. You can visit the famous university center: Queen’s College, King’s College of King’s Chapel, Clare College, Great St. Mary’s Church. You can see Market Place and take a walk around Trinity and St. John’s College. Ride through the Sherwood Forest, known from the legend of Robin Hood. Visit the headquarters of the evil sheriff – Nottingham Castle, Robin Monument, Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem – a medieval building from the times of the Knights of the Cross. Many other attractions await you in the city of Robin Hood.

5. Newstead Abbey a vacation full of poetry.

It is an abbey near Nottingham, England.  Originally belonging to the Augustinians, it is best known as the birthplace of Lord Byron.
This abbey was founded in the 12th century by King Henry II as penance for the murder of Thomas Becket. In the 16th century, it was converted into a private estate, which was bought by Sir John Byron in 1540.
The property has 300 acres of gardens and park. Today, Newstead Abbey is in the public domain and houses a museum displaying items related to the story of John Byron.

You can also see many other palaces and buildings. Currently in England there are about 400,000 monuments, 2.5% of which are Class I monuments. In nearly every corner of Great Britain can be found monuments worth seeing. We only showed you a taste of what a holiday in the country can offer.
